6 Aggrey Memorial Students Arrested For Assaulting Adisadel Student.

 

The Ghana Police Service in the Central Region has arrested six juvenile suspects in connection with the alleged assault of a student of Adisadel College in Cape Coast.

According to a press release issued by the Central Regional Police Command, the suspects, all students of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School, were handed over to the Kotokuraba Police Station by their school authorities on 20 February 2026 at about 7:30 p.m.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on the same day, following the inter-colleges sports festival at the Cape Coast Stadium. The victim, identified as Rexford Owusu-Ansah, a final-year student of Adisadel College, was reportedly attacked near Pedu Junction while returning to campus with two friends. While his friends managed to escape, he was allegedly overpowered, assaulted and robbed of his mobile phone, cash amounting to approximately GH¢1,400, and his shoes.

He was initially treated at the stadium clinic and later referred to the Cape Coast Regional Hospital. Police medical documentation indicates he sustained a serious eye injury. He has since been discharged.

The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations. The Central Regional Police Command has condemned the incident and assured the public that due process will be followed and the juveniles will face the full rigours of the law.
